Love has a fairy tale (chapter 3)

by Craig on May 6, 2011

Sometimes you feel things. Love has intuition. There are dark clouds on the horizon before dawn today. The sky above is pre dawn blue. the horizon is gray – it has a gray feel to it. You can tell the clouds won’t give way to the Sun – not without a fight… and fighting clouds has a story…

Way back, I began telling you the story of the Knight of Love – Love’s fairy tale. I’ve gotten away from it. It’s time for it to make a return. (Chapter one is here – and two is here )

“Clouds, clouds, clouds. Rain, rain, rain,” said the girl, blonde stringlets of hair covering her face as she stared downward. The words short, sticatto – few in number – dense with meaning. “I hate clouds. I hate rain.”

“Then I’ll ask angels to push away the clouds.” replied the Knight, in a demeanor bespeaking confidence – as if he’d seen it done before.

“Angels don’t exist!” she replied. Her words were stern. Definitive. Laden with a sorrow that lay beneath – dragging. everything. down.

The Knight despised the sadness in her eyes. The Knight despised sadness. He knew too well of the heaviness, had drunk deeply from that cup. He knew how it beckoned and once given into only becomes heavier. Sunshine isn’t always there – but sunshine was needed here – now.

He knelt and bowed his head in prayer.

“You will not find Sun down there!” Sharp words issued from disbelieving lips. “I’ve done that. Time after time. There is no one to listen. Words – they hit ceilings, they break apart, they fall back to earth. They vanish. You shall find no light on your knees – only disappointment – only regret for even having tried”

Still, head bowed, leaning on the sword, whispers to heaven, but all the girl could hear was this, “All the more need for sunshine right now, my Lord, my God.”

Nothing but a shaking of the head from the girl, arms folded tight, desire to walk away and leave the praying fool on his knees, talking to no one.

Then a stirring and whirling of the clouds. The gray wrestled with itself, billowing, bunching, rising, falling. The blanket of darkness began to unravel.

The clouds began. to. move.

Eyes skyward the Knight saw more than clouds, more than motion. He beheld bright beings sparkling between the clouds, creating space, dividing them.

Soon the clouds had silver linings to match shimmer of angel’s wings.

“Look!” said The Knight, “Angels are moving clouds.”

The girl saw only her feet. Clouds never moved for her. She knew only light that fled, never arriving. Darkness weighs heavy on a heart with no hope.

Still she glanced upward for a moment before returning her gaze to earth – but just a moment. Eyes that don’t want to see – won’t. “I see no angels,” she muttered to the ground. Then glaring at him with a fierceness borne of suffering, “You are a dreamer!” she said, “Dreamers see, but never wake up…never wake up.”

I heart this story. And there is more – later – so much more of it. A piece of the story has been skipped today because the clouds I see on the horizon this morning won’t yield to sun – and so, this part of the story.

There is reason for her sadness. There is reason for his hope. There is magic ahead, and light for shadows, and faith to match hope, and love to bind all…

If you have clouds on your horizons today – know this.

Angels can move clouds.

to be continued…

In God’s love

Craig, I didn’t mean to ignore you with this. I’ve been sitting here holding my breath for a day waiting for more of the story. . . . .
It was a cloudy, dark day yesterday — literally. We don’t get many of those here in May. May is usually sunny, hot and dry. It isn’t until it’s REALLY hot that we get the rains and thunder showers. So yesterday was just sent to illustrate your story. And maybe I was staring at my feet, too. And I have to say, I totally agree with your last statement, Angels CAN and DO move clouds. Even the heaviest of them. I’ve been there. Can’t wait for the rest of the story. Do we have to wait til Monday?

Cora – the wait will be longer than Monday I’m afraid – the fairy tale is only a sometime visitor to Love. As I said in the intro – I skipped some of the story to get to this part because of literal and figurative clouds here – so I get what you’ve said. God bless you Cora.

A. I’m with you – we have so much power at our disposal and yet we always think – “I have this one, God, you take the next one” – like he might get tired or something. Oh we of little faith. God Bless you A.

Thank you for your gracious words – it’s a long story – only just begun – it’s written in in my head – now to bring it here piece by piece. It’s all about Love – in every corner of it. I heart it. I’m thankful you liked it – and thank you for reading. Thank you – and God bless you.

Amen – and thank you. Hope – crucial – and part of love – a big part. And “nice to read you” – I get it – funny!! The blog equivalent of “it’s nice to see you”. Heart that!! Thank you again – and God bless you today!!

Ahh… Love continues to chanel your words into surprising places. Like many, I’ve been “the girl” with arms folded, seeing only my feet. I hope your Knight will prevail. Hope is a very good thing. Keep reminding us, good friend.

Who doesn’t like a fairy tale right? And a Love fairy tale – even better. The knight has things to learn too – wait till she scolds him about picking up his stuff instead of just sitting on it. 🙂 Every knight needs a good scolding once in a while. No? Thank you as always Liz. And God Bless you too!!
