Love transforms blackbirds to doves…An Easter Poem for you

by Craig on April 8, 2012

bitterness
unbending desperation fills air

Cross to sepulcher
who
would have thought anymore of him

source

hopeless

disconsolate
resignation attending

pierced
crushed
punished
their Master

source

spurned
forgotten
lying cold
their Teacher

sleeping

entombed

one morning to one evening
one dawn to one midnight

third day breaks swirling high

glistening

source

resplendence streaming low to earth

bedrock rouses
earth convulses,
tumbling, quaking
tremors

an angel
descends

rolls back the stone

sits

smiles

waits

three arrive to attend
spices, oils, according to command

source

but nothing to attend

“Why seek the living among the dead”

panic encircles them
blackbirds in flight
smoke envelopes
minds confused

but

streaking glimmers speak

He

Is

Not

Here

and suddenly…

it’s blackbirds to doves

source

soaring

splitting darkness

now among the living
not among the dead

then…

a voice…

they knew…

“Peace”

“Go”

“Tell”

love inhabits every part
anguish to peace
woe to elation

they run
they fly
spices and oils

not needed

source

no anointing for the living

no living among the dead

risen

not sleeping

just

as

he

said

You know poetry HATES me – they’re all so pretty when they’re done, but they are so mean to me as I write them. Anyway, hoping today finds you having a better day, rather than a bad one. You are kind of in inspiration Layla. God bless you.

It speaks His love to me, and how I need it. Thank you for this beautiful gift, Craig.
